Supporting Families, Building Stability
In 2024, the Sharifa-Tofiz Foundation launched the Supporting Families initiative to assist families facing financial hardship in rural communities. The goal is to provide thoughtful, practical support that helps families meet essential needs while strengthening their ability to stand on their own. Stability at home creates opportunity for growth, dignity, and hope—and this project is one of our early steps toward building stronger, more resilient families.
A Path Back to Independence
After losing her husband, a single mother in a rural village faced the sudden loss of both emotional support and household income. Her husband had run a small corner store, and its closure left the family struggling to meet daily needs. Through the Supporting Families initiative, the Sharifa-Tofiz Foundation provided her with seed capital to reopen the store and purchase cattle, helping her create multiple sources of income. With this support, she is steadily rebuilding her livelihood, regaining confidence, and providing for her family with dignity. This is the kind of self-reliance and hope the foundation strives to restore—one family at a time.
